We Had Fun at Gabi's 4th Birthday

Age is interesting. I can remember when my parents turned 50 and I thought that was so old. When I turned 50, people would ask "How does it feel to be 50? Do you feel older?" Interestingly enough, it is not my age that makes me feel old; but, when our children or grandchildren have a birthday, that is when I feel older. Gabi turned 4 years old today, but we celebrated her birthday yesterday evening. I looked at her and said, "Gabi, do you know that you are four and Kaylin will be fourteen in September?" The look on her face was like, "So?" I know, she is the one that is still young; age doesn't matter to her.

Four years ago, we were hit with hurricane Rita; and Gabi, who was then 5 weeks old had her first evacuation for a hurricane. And her life has been exciting ever since. We enjoy her out look on life, the funny things she says to us, and that smile that can just melt you to pieces.

Enjoy Gabi's birthday through some photos (and I know you will find a lot more of them on Holli's blog and Kyle's blog).

We started the evening by eating at Gino's. It is a little Italian Restaurant here in Beaumont that is Gabi's favorite place to eat. When they found out it was her birthday, they did the following for her:

After dinner it was time to go to Gabi's house to
have ice cream, cake and open presents.

Why are you singing to me again?

Gabi loved opening her presents. This one is
a Princess pots and pan set.

Men (and boys) tend to get bored watching
girls open presents. So they find their own
fun thing to do. Way to go Kyle and Hayes (Kyle
did clean up the mess)

Princess Gabi struts her stuff!!!

Once again, leave it to the boys to think of
something to keep them busy while all
the girl stuff was going on.

Kyle waits for Gabi to come in the front door
to see her final present. She wanted a new
puppy so badly and every Princess gets her
wish.
Gabi was so cute and asked if the puppy was hers.

"Yep, he's mine!"

Everyone loved the puppy. Emma would have
taken him home if she could have (Hayes wanted
one, too. He said his mom says he needs more
responsibility. Lela said cutting the lawn is
having responsibility!)

I remember when Laura (Eric's sister) was little
and she wanted a baby doll buggy so badly. She
got one, and what did she do with it? She put
the dog in it and gave the dog lots of rides. I think
that trait has been passed on to Gabi.

We had a lot of fun watching Gabi enjoy her fourth birthday. Next will be Braydon when he turns four in September and Kaylin turns 14 a day after that. YIKES!! Two more birthdays to make me feel old!!
