Fall in Southeast Texas

Being raised in New York on Long Island, we enjoyed four seasons a year. I loved the fall with the cooler weather and the beautiful colors of fall. The oranges, the reds, the yellows and browns--those leaves made a beautiful, colorful scenery. When we moved to Texas, I missed the four seasons. I missed the colors of the leaves in September and October. My mom knew how much I missed them and that our children didn't get to see the colored leaves. She would gather the colored leaves and steam them in between waxed paper and mail them to us. The kids enjoyed them every year.

Sunday when I was in the parking lot at church, I saw three little trees with the prettiest colors of yellow and orange. When I arrived home, I told Eric how much I loved those trees and his reply was "you should see it up north in Woodville". In the afternoon, we went for a drive up to Henn House Ridge and I was in heaven. So much color, the sounds of nature...it was a beautiful trip.

Here are some pictures and videos from our trip. Now, I do understand that there are others that live in different parts of the country that are beautiful with their four seasons. But remember, we hardly ever have the beauty of fall.

The water was so still that the trees made a
beautiful reflection

The photo above is one of my favorites. It was
so beautiful there and you could hear the sounds
of nature.
Can you believe the colors, the reflections?

Why am I so fascinated by deer?Beware, this is not a reflection. Doe a deer?
No dos a deer (that's Spanish for two a deer)

Behind these trees (above) there is a small
cabin. Kind of cozy looking. I love the colors
but I am not one to spend the night in the woods.
This part of the park (water) was full of lily
pads that were dying off. I didn't realize that
they also turn colors in the fall.

All good things must come to an end. The sky was beginning to get dark and the rain was beginning to come down, so it was time to drive home. I am grateful for the creations we have been given by a Heavenly Father who loves us so much.
