My Favorite Ornaments

On one of Holli's blogs, she showed some of her favorite Christmas ornaments. She asked if all would share some of ours. My Christmas tree is a tree of memories. I can point to any ornament and tell you why I have it on my tree. Here are a few of my favorites.

A few years ago, Hallmark had the set of Joseph,
Mary and the baby Jesus. This year they came out
with the three wise men. I love nativity scenes and
it is fun having one on my tree.
With one of my hobbies being genealogy, it was
fun to find this German boy with his German house.
My dad's father immigrated from Germany when he
was one years old with the last name of Eyrich.
My mom's grandmother was from
Germany, her last name being Meyer. Her
grandfather was from Germany
with the last name of Viemeister.
This little Norwegian girl and her home I
purchased because my mom's other set of
grandparents were from Norway. Their last
name was Tunesen but changed it to Thompsen.
This is the Norwegian Santa from Hallmark.
I love this ornament because it reminds of the
times I have made Christmas cookies with
the grandchildren.
This ornament I love for two reasons. One,
my dad loves lighthouses. Two, our Savior
is the Keeper of the Light
This lighthouse ornament is special because
of the my dad's liking of lighthouses.
I bought this Hallmark ornament a few years ago.
It is a knitted sweater with the word Mom knitted
on it twice. The design of the sweater is very Norwegian.
Now it will be a treasured ornament because of my own
mom and the wonderful things she made for all of us
through the years.
My mom loved teddy bears. I bought this
Lenox ornament one year after Christmas (you
have to love the 50% off sales after Christmas).
This teddy bear ornament was made in commemoration
of the 100th year of the Teddy bear, named after
Teddy Roosevelt.
These ornaments used to be on my grandfather's
Christmas tree. I remember them hanging on his
tree when I was a little girl.

I have a love of Noah's Ark items. Walk into my house and you will see many decorations that encompass my love of Noah's Ark. Below are some of the Noah's Ark ornaments that decorate my tree.

I think Hallmark got a little carried away with
this one. A propeller? I don't think so. But I
still love the ornament.
This glass ornament is a little difficult to see, but
Noah is in the front on the left side of the boat.

From what I hear, this is the last Noah's Ark
in Hallmark's series. I am hoping not true. I
will miss buying a new one each year.

These are some of my favorites and there are probably a hundred more. But, this blog would go on forever. I hope you will share some of your favorites just as Holli had asked. It is fun to see what others enjoy with their Christmas decorations.

I love this blog and all the pictures of ornaments! You and I are the same about our ornaments - every one of ours tells a story. My favorite of yours is the little sweater. It's precious I'm sure it will always mean a lot to you.

I LOVE reading about ornaments and their meanings to you! I need to go through ours and do the same before they are all broken. Good news is that I STILL have the Troy Aikman ornament you got me when I was a freshman at BYU in 1996. So fun!!
