I am sure you have all read Shannon's blog and looked at the great pictures from last weekend. What a wonderful celebration of life and family. To see the tears of joy that Marshall and Shannon shed brought tears of joy to mine. The feelings felt inside my heart cannot be described in words.
Kim and Rich had come in for the festivities of Kyle's adoption, sealing in the temple, and blessing. To have our five children together is not an event that happens very often. My camera was charged up and ready to go.
Here are my photos and a story in pictures of my great weekend.
"Here comes the judge" were the best words we have heard in a long time. The judge was the man who was in court on Tuesday, June 7th, who finalized Kyle's adoption. Tears of joy and laughter (especially when Kyle puked all over the courtroom floor) filled our hearts. If only I had remembered my camera and taken a picture of the new little family from the judge's chair. You will have to take my word for it how big the smiles were on the faces of Marshall and Shannon (and of course little Kyle) and two sets of proud grandparents.
The most important day that Marshall and Shannon had been waiting for (other than the day little Kyle was born) was the day they were able to take little Kyle to the temple to have him sealed to them for all eternity. We believe, in our religion, that families are forever; and in order for that to take place, we attend a special ceremony in the temple. There were more tears shed that day than the day Marshall and Shannon were married. They had each other but now life was even more fulfilling with sweet, little Kyle as their forever little boy.

Arm sling plus senior moment brain=picture taken of Eric and me with Marshall and Shannon. (You will see on his blessing day that my brain had a younger moment and I had taken the sling off for the picture). I hate pictures because they show how fat I am. Time to get my thyroid medicine right and also to get back on the treadmill. Despite all of my negativity, taking a picture with our new little family was a happy day.

Saturday evening we all gathered at the home of Marshall and Shannon for a little family get together. Kim didn't know the real reason we were all there. Her birthday was Friday, June 10th, and we surprised her with a Baskin-Robbins ice cream cake.

Don't you just love Hallmark moments? I have been waiting for this Hallmark moment since little Kyle was born. Willow Tree has the most heart warming statues and I have had my eye on the one below. The statue represents a mother, father and little baby-a united, loving family.

On Sunday evening, the family went to Shannon's parents' home in Vidor so that Marshall could bless little Kyle. Babies, in our church, are not baptized. Baptism doesn't come until they are eight years old. Babies are blessed, usually by their dad, to give them a name and a blessing. Kyle's name is very special. His first name comes from Kyle, our son; his middle name is David, a special name for three reasons. David is Marshall's middle name. We had chosen the name because of a little boy who was Chad's best friend when he was five years old. David Hanson had been hit by a truck while crossing a busy road here in Beaumont. Marshall had always wanted a son that would have the name David because of a missionary that served here in Beaumont. David Haws had cancer twice as a boy, went into remission, served a two year mission, and after his mission an auto immune disease of unknown origin had taken dear David back to his Heavenly Father. Little Kyle looked so precious in his white little suit.

Meet Kyle David and Kyle Jacob

They are both so cute, don't you think?

I remembered to take off the sling. Yippee!! Look at that cute baby and it is killing me that I can't hold him.

I love pictures, especially family pictures; and this weekend was family picture heaven for me. The best one of all was to be able to have a picture of our five children. I have three brothers and one sister and I don't even know the last time we were able to have a picture taken of all five of us. When our five are together, we take the opportunity to take as many pictures as we can.

Here are our five with their spouses; from left to right are Maren with Ryan, Kyle with Holli, Marshall with Shannon, Kim with Rich, and Chad with Meigan.

Ok, they named their baby after Kyle because? In case you can't read the bib, it says "If mommy says no, ask Grandma"

Fun family, brotherly fun, fun filled weekend. I LOVED IT!!!!

PS--I have no idea how to get this blue trimmed box off my blog. OK, close out with another Senior Moment. Forget the younger brain I thought I had.
