Gabi, My Little Elf

After four surgeries, 42 days in the hospital plus recovery at home, my house has become a disorderly haven to live in.

Gabi had a goal of doing some kind of service every Monday in December. Guess who ended up on her service list? ME!! This is the project I left for her.

We had to empty our old TV cabinet which not only held the TV but also had wonderful cabinets and drawers that stored puzzles and books, DVDs, Wii Games...get the picture? Then, of course, was the Toy box I keep in the family room that has everything in it from little legos to big legos, to books and even wires from the old TV. Gabi didn't realize what she was in for. All the puzzles were 24 piece puzzles which I am going to donate to a school. We had to be sure that all 24 pieces were in the puzzles. Eventually, my little elf needed some help from her mom and dad (they won't let me post the picture of the two of them putting puzzles together).

Just like everybody else, I have an Elf on the Shelf; however, I had an elf on the floor.

Gabi has a little bit of OCD in her which is great when you want somebody to pile up your books in size order (OK, maybe she has a grandma with OCD that likes her books piled in size order and also theme).

My little elf (with a bit of help from the older elves) did a great job and I was so proud of her for her spirit of giving.

Today, Kyle asked if I could watch Gabi for a little while as Holli had a doctor's appointment and Kyle was going to stay here for when the cable guy came to upgrade our phone and yes, HD TV. When they were finished with the cable, I told Kyle that Gabi could stay here until Holli was finished with her appointment. While my little elf was here again, you betcha...I asked the elf to give a little bit more service. She did an excellent job in sorting toys so we could get them in the right boxes.

Gabi loves Oreo Cookies Klondike Bars. I gave her one and it ended up a little on the soft side. Thinking that Gabi needed a towel to wipe her hands and mouth off while eating the Klondike bar, I suggested she go get a towel. Getting a towel she did, only the Klondike bar ended up on the towel; and Gabi ate it off the towel. I loved watching her and listening to her giggle.

She is so darn cute, a hard worker, and this sick, old Grandma loved every minute of being with her and watching her serve with a heart filled with the pure love of Christ, for that is the definition of charity.

THANK YOU GABI!!!!!
