An Adopted Grandpa

Our children didn't have the opportunity to have their grandparents live close by. And now our grandchildren don't have the opportunity to have their great grandparents live close by. We have always tried our best through modern technology to stay in touch. My dad is great with the computer and e-mails even at the young age of 89. And Eric's mom, she would die if I told you how old she is, can keep up with the young people, too. We are very blessed to have this technology, even this blog, to stay in touch.

This picture is of our grandchildren Emma and Hayes with "Grandpa Hayes". He is Marshall Hayes' dad, and if I remember correctly he is 93 years old, give or take a few years. Because he lives in Vidor, only 20 minutes from Beaumont, we were always able to see him frequently. Our children have always loved him and his words of wisdom. He would play the spoons and mesmerize them with his rhythmic talent. He, to this day, can quote poetry especially these funny little rhymes that always have a special message to learn.

Now our grandchildren are enjoying the same thrills with "Grandpa Hayes". He surprises them with his wisdom, his memorization of years and years of poems, and they love him because he genuinely loves everybody. Thank you Marshall Hayes for sharing your dad with us. We truly love him.
