Why We Have Children at a Young Age

OK, don't take this post the wrong way. I absolutely love my grandchildren. They make me laugh, they can touch my heart in a blink of an eye; but they can also wear me out in less than an hour. Watching the twins, in particular, I have a higher respect for Kim and her mothering techniques. This evening I told Eric, "The Lord knew not to give me twins. He knew I would shoot myself." Looking at him with an eye that could probably kill, he says to me "You have a different temperament now." Being an emotional grandma on the brink of pulling my hair out, I said to him" Are you saying I am a grumpy grandma?" (I felt totally put down by his comment). He pulled himself into a safety zone by saying, "No, no. I meant that you are older now and when you were younger you could have done it." Nice way to get out of watching me storm out of the kitchen, Eric.

Honestly, though. I truly believe that Heavenly Mother is up there right now saying, "Now Heavenly Father, the poor woman is 55 years old. Let her be a grandma. That is the time of her life now." How did I take care of five children with a husband who was hardly ever at home, get them to school, soccer practices, dance, church, do laundry, clean the house, go grocery shopping, baths, etc., etc.? You young moms--enjoy your energy level that keeps you going like an Energizer Bunny. Someday, you are going to be my age and the battery will be dead!!
