Waiting to Say the "Flu Flew"

Sometimes I just don't understand how things happen. I am writing this blog sitting in my bed with my laptop on my lap (isn't that why they call them laptops). Wednesday evening, whammo, I was sick before I knew it. Bag ladies look better than I did Wednesday evening with a flannel nightgown on with flannel pajama pants underneath. There I lay in that gorgeous outfit underneath four blankets (two of them quilts) shivering like crazy. I guess the swine found me.

You see, I had a flu shot for the very first time this year. Can you believe that? I have never had a flu shot in my life. And what do I get? THE FLU!! What's up with that? Then the miracle drug "Tamiflu" that is supposed to make your symptoms lighter so you get better quicker--NOT. Luckily I found a bucket fast enough. Tamiflu is now on my list of drugs not to take. I'd rather get well on my own than throw up from medicine that is supposed to make you better.

48 hours later I sit here in quarantine (Eric won't let me out of my room--he is determined not to get the flu). Gone are the horrible aches and pains in every joint you own, the headache that felt like your head was in a vice (is that spelled right?), no more shivering and no more fever. However, I now have no voice and when I talk I sound like I have been smoking for 90 years. This cough is the pits. My ribs and muscles hurt from coughing so much. Does that mean I am out of shape?

The pros of this hideous disease? I added every single Christmas CD I own onto my laptop (oh, you don't want to know how many I have and you would never guess), added another row onto the granny square afghan I am making for Gabi, and made our Christmas card picture collage. Now I just need permission to get out of my room and into the computer room to make copies.

Tomorrow, I am busting down the door and leaving this place. Sorry, I am not a sitter. I find something to do all day long and am on my feet all day long. It's time for me to get off my butt and see the rest of the world, which for right now will consist of roaming the house. Oh, I can see it now. Lights shining on my tree, my lighted village and train--I'm ready family room, look out here I come.
