It's All About Family

Being the family genealogist, I know many things about our ancestors in Germany on both sides of my family. When the time was right to do the research, little did I know that my German family stayed in one town for two hundred years. How times have changed and now families are living in all parts of the country, some families even separated by oceans

We are truly blessed that four of our children and their families live here in Beaumont. But then, because of employment we are separated from one of our children and her family. No longer do we live on the same land as those who went before and trying to have all of my family together at the same time is almost impossible.

Today we celebrated the blessing of our newest granddaughter, Sophia Mae Petersen. Those who were able to get together with us did just that and Sophia's blessing day was cherished.

Before I get to the pictures from today, I have a few pictures from when Braydon, Isabella and Gabi were with me last week. They totally enjoyed their time together and I was so proud of Gabi and Braydon for including two year old Isabella in their play time.

I finally was able to finish Isabella's fleece blanket decorated with Dora, one of Isabella's favorites. Isabella didn't mind one bit to pose with her new blanket.
Now what do we have here? Is there something or someone under Isabella's new blanket? The next picture tells it all.
Boo, there are Braydon, Isabella and Gabi (the back of Isabella's blanket is hot pink with a white marble pattern through it).
Gee, I wonder who is hiding? Somebody missing?
This is Isabella's usual "ta da" pose
And here is the star of the day..Sophia Mae Petersen
She looks like Shannon, no she looks like Marshall, no I really cannot make up my mind

She has piano player fingers
Aunt Maren loves Sophia
Kyle and Marshall watching the Olympics
At this point, I don't think Kyle, Marshall and Shannon were laughing at the Olympics. Chad was in the house and he always has everybody laughing.
Papa and his little man Holland
Poor Gabi. Braydon and Isabella are up in Tyler, Texas with Ryan's parents (or as Isabella would say "Gwamma Johnson..with the son part sang at a High C pitch). I have never heard Gabi ask if it was time to go home and tonight was the first. She was totally bored without Braydon.
And then, yes and then, oh my and then there is our inquisitive little Kyle. I keep toys in plastic boxes at the house so the grandchildren have plenty of things to play with when they are here. Kyle's favorite thing to do is to move the boxes where he wants them, climb on top of them, and then enjoy to his little heart's desire. He moved every box away from the side of the dry sink over to where he is in this picture.
Hmm..what do I do with these?
I think this goes in that
That might be, but I will try another piece just in case
Don't you absolutely love Gabi's new headphones? She needed headphones for computer lab when school starts. Right now she is using them with Kyle's Ipad to play games and to watch videos.
Maren wins the prize again for her beautiful cake design. I am the baker, she is the decorator, and actually I wash all the dishes, too.
Sometimes it is dangerous to have our boys together. Many interesting ideas are put to the test. Kyle wanted some cake, but Marshall thought it would be a better idea to just squirt whipped cream on a plate and let Kyle go for it.

Marshall, Kyle and Chad...oops, I mean Marshall, little Kyle and Chad
Kyle wanted to say a prayer, so we had a prayer, then sang Happy Birthday to Ryan, some ate cake, some ate peach cobbler (Holli made some for Ryan's birthday) and we all had a great time together.

Our family is truly blessed.
