Vacation..Is it worth the work?

We are headed to Long Island. Isn't it beautiful?

After reading Holli's blog about getting ready to go on vacation, I realized that I do the same exact thing. I think it is our "A" Type personalities which usually drive people crazy. But, alas, I too must clean the bathrooms, vacuum the carpets, make sure laundry hampers are empty, do laundry, iron laundry, grocery shop (yes, we take all of our drinks and treats with us--saves money). And last but not least, the dishwasher--it has to be empty when I go. My brain has tried to contemplate this work, work, work ethic that I have before vacation. The conclusion my brain has come to (no, dear children of mine I am not sick in the head) is this. If something happened to Eric and me on our trip, I would not want people to go into my home and find it a mess. Everything has to be clean and organized. Vacation would not be complete without being able to come home to a vacation. You walk into the house, nothing needs to be done and you can just crash because you need another vacation. All of this makes perfect sense to me.

We will be seeing my mom and dad-dad is 87 and mom is 84.

Dad looks ostracized in this photo. Lol! I hope you all have a fun and safe trip. Say hi to everyone and let me know how the video goes.

Yes! I completely agree. Thank you for understanding my warped frame of mind.

Now, I must go clean up...

I do the same thing ... i leave our home in tip top shape ... and for the same reasons you wrote. If something happened to me ... then, those who come in to take care of stuff ... they'll say "this woman was a perfectionist!"

And for sure all the packing, worry, etc. to prepare for a vacation ... it's all worth it!

Hope you're having a wonderful time! Enjoy the nice cool air up there in the north.
