According to Timothy

Yesterday as I was beginning my scripture study in the New Testament, my start off scripture was First Timothy Chapter 2. Before this, I had read the Sunday newspaper and was quite upset about the upcoming Presidential Inauguration. I didn't vote for Obama and currently, I am not totally sure how I feel about him being our President. Increased taxes frighten me, pulling our troops out of Iraq frightens me, releasing prisoners from Quantanamo Bay frightens me. Thinking maybe we could have a terrorist attack in the next four years because of cutting back on the security that Bush set up in this country, that frightens me.

How absolutely amazing that the Lord speaks to us through the scriptures when we are upset, confused, whatever our feelings at the time. These words are what I read at the beginning of First Timothy Chapter 2:

"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty."

So, beginning this evening, I will pray for our new President that he will be guided by the Spirit in the decisions he makes; and that through those decisions we may live a peaceable life. My prayer is all that read this will do the same.
