Today I was reminded of how fun it is to be a child. Remember on St. Patrick's Day, you would wake up in the morning and you would tell your mom that you just had to wear green ? No pinches because you didn't have green on.
My ancestors are from Germany and Norway, not one ounce of Irish in me. But, still, the festivities were on; and I just had to wear green. One St. Patrick's Day, my mom dyed our cereal milk green. Green eggs and ham? Now, that I don't remember.
Chad, Emma and Hayes came in from Katy today as it is their spring break this week. Kyle felt it would be a wonderful idea to barbecue and have everybody get together. That was fine with me as long as they knew I wasn't going to do all the work, not with my ankle the way it is. When Gabi walked in, she was in complete shock that Braydon didn't have a green shirt on. Of course, he was pinched; and immediately we had to go change his shirt (luckily there was a green one here at the house). And as for the cake I bought? They wanted to know whose birthday it was; so, we sang Happy Birthday St. Patrick! (Marshall informed me that it was not St. Patrick's birthday, like Gabi and Braydon would know that). We even had mint chocolate chip ice cream.
No green milk in my cereal this morning, I didn't rush to my mom and say where is my green shirt, no school party; but I did wear a green shirt just in case somebody thought they would pinch my arm. I am proud of my German and Norwegian ancestry; but while the grandchildren are little, I am going to enjoy their innocence and just have fun, even if I have to sing Happy Birthday to St. Patrick!

That was definitely fun! I'm glad you played along. Gabi had a great day.
Why weren't we invited?
The Browns were not invited because Kyle came up with this idea of dinner at 4:00 PM. Didn't think they could make it by 6. Now, if Kyle had called earlier in the day, the Browns would have been invited because they could have gotten on a plane and made it by 6!!
