Evacuation Again?

OK, so Hurricane Ike is over Cuba right now. They are being blasted with a Category 4 hurricane. My heart is just full of compassion for those people. Maybe politically we don't get along with the government; but these people are children of our Heavenly Father just as we are His children. These people have nowhere to go. We sit here and complain about having to possibly evacuate again when the people in Cuba and Haiti would give their right arm if they had a place where they could evacuate.

For me, the hardest part of all of this is hearing every day what might happen; and we never know the outcome until a day before that storm hits land. This time, I am not waiting. I am leaving Tuesday morning for Killeen and if turns out to be only a much needed vacation then so be it. But, if the storm hits Beaumont, then I am out of harm's way. I am not sitting at home glued to the TV and the weather channel having these meteorologists (who are not gods) hyping up the storm and making it something so dreadful before they even know where it is going.

So, my plastic boxes are still packed from evacuating for Gustav. I will once again throw them in my car, load up the food and water for the trip, and hopefully I will be ahead of the traffic. Then, it is onto Killeen and some relaxation and fun. I'll turn the weather channel on in the evening to see if my house blew away or not. Ya know, it is all just materialistic stuff and it can all stay in Beaumont. But, for me--I am out of here.
