So, What Do You Do When You Evacuate?

Thought you would like to see our evacuation story in photos. We are home now safe and sound waiting for a little rain and some tropical storm winds. Blessed we were, that's for sure!! So, here's what you do during evacuation:Your grandson welcomes you with open arms!!
Chad and Lela's house stays clean for about 5 minutes
after the Beaumont troops invade.

Gabi and her Uncle Marshall get to sleep when
everybody else is awake.

You go to Wal-Mart for some things you forgot and come
home with a cowboy outfit that Braydon's mommy couldn't resist.

Your granddaughter lets her cousin play with
whatever he wants to and can even mess up her bedroom.

Despite the noise, you let your grandchildren pound on the top of a
lincoln log container with lincoln logs. Oh what beautiful music!!???

You hire Holli to bathe three dogs and give
them flea treatments.

You buy a new grill so that barbecuing food for 12 people goes a
little faster than cooking on a hibachi. You let your son-in-law and
son work together and figure out how to put it together.
You let Holli continue to bathe the dogs.

The moms let their little ones jump on the trampoline with the
hose for extra fun and who cares if they are in their underwear. Didn't
you do that when you were little? Who needs a bathing suit?
Hayes did because he is older.

Ah, what sweet relief to ease the tension!!

You make sure there is plenty of food for 12 people to eat. Heck
there were 3 1/2 families there (Eric stayed in Beaumont because
of the church duties and the Emergency Operation
Committee for the County--that makes me 1/2 a family)
You let Braydon and Gabi eat hamburger buns even though
they don't have hamburgers.
You let batman enter your home to fight the evil forces!!
You let your son-in-law Ryan lock up Batman
(alias Emma). The children must play.

Well that's what we did and it was fun for all. Now our hearts go out to those in Louisiana and Mississippi who weren't able to have as much fun as we did.

You know what's sad? I bathed more dogs than I did people. I came home and realized Gabi didn't have a single bath the entire time we were there and I'd only had one... that's not counting, of course, the trampoline/water hose experience. I guess my mind was just so distracted... But, everything worked out in the end.
