President Eyring, in a Conference talk, told us that if we look at our life each day, we can always find a blessing from the Lord, His hand in all things.
As I write this blog, I am in Pensacola, Florida. Eric and I were on our way to Florida to spend time with Grandma Petersen. Today would have been their 60th anniversary and we wanted to spend the day with her.
Now with Hurricane Ike heading towards Texas, our plans have changed. However, we see the hand of the Lord in our plans.
We always stay in Mobile, Alabama when we travel East. Maybe it was promptings of the Spirit, but Tuesday night Eric decided that we could stay in Pensacola, Florida. What a blessing that has been to our family. We have enough hotel rooms for us, Maren and family, and even Ryan's family. The scriptures say "When ye are prepared, ye shall not fear." I do have a calm feeling in regards to this hurricane and our family. By the end of today, all will be safe and able to ride out the storm. There is nothing on this earth more important than family. All of our "stuff" can be replaced someday. Our children and grandchildren cannot.
I am so grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ and even more so at times like this when I can put into play my testimony of prayer and guidance by the Spirit. As I said in one of my earlier blogs, as long as we listen to the promptings of the Spirit when called upon through fervent prayer, our path will be guided straightly and in the right direction. The Lord will keep his promises made to us that he will guide and direct our path especially during times of trial and affliction.
