And Now, The Rest of the Story

I was able to take some interesting photos along our way. Some made us chuckle, some were a little scary, and some were just fun. Each photo has its own story, so here goes. And as Paul Harvey used to say, "And Now, the Rest of the Story".

Read this first sign, then scroll down and read the second sign. After that, I'll tell you why this gave us a chuckle.

These signs were posted by two different churches in Titusville, PA. One was across the street from the hotel. When we drove around behind that church, another church had posted the sign saying the opposite. I guess in life it just depends on how you look at the glass. Is it half full, or is it half empty? So, do you enjoy the refreshing rain or do you pray for warm sunshine? You decide.

This picture actually should be on the wedding blog. Glen and Missy were married at this Catholic Church in Titusville. She had gone to this church since she was a year old. I wish I could have gotten a better picture. Beautiful stones are on the outside, and when you go into the church the chapel is adorned with absolutely gorgeous stained glass windows. But, it wasn't over done--it was beautiful and yet it was simplistic and warm.
OK, this is the picture that was a little scary. We were driving through Indiana and the sky was getting fuller and fuller of thick, thick clouds. As I was watching the clouds, I thought to myself "I wonder if that there cloud is gonna start spinnin'?". It actually was a funnel cloud but never touched ground. It dissipated and then what we saw was
these thick clouds in the sky. Nature is an amazing thing to enjoy. The clouds were so thick and in these clumps that were just hanging there. They looked so heavy and yet they were just up there a floatin' away.
OK, this is a Jay Leno moment, you know when he would put up a newspaper article or something someone had sent in that was so paradoxical. We are in this beautiful Nauvoo Inn in Illinois. Walking down the hallway I look at this sign.........(make sure you read it)
and I said to Eric, "Does that make sense?" Here is the Fire Exit door (OK, that means it is used if there is a fire) but it is to remain closed at all times. Can someone explain to me if it is OK to use the Fire Door if there is a fire? The sign says it has to remain closed AT ALL TIMES. So how do I get out of the hotel?
The beautiful Nauvoo Temple sits atop of a hill in Nauvoo, Illinois. I wished so much that my camera would have taken a picture of it at night. All the windows look like they are glowing in the evening. An absolutely beautiful sight.
This picture I took for my darling granddaughters who know what the American Girl Dolls are. In Chicago, where I am right now, there is actually an American Girl Doll Store. It is two floors of dolls, their accessories, books, movies, etc. Kaylin, Emma and Little Maren--watch the video below:

Can you believe that? And today some dad definitely got suckered in. He came out of that store with his little girl and had four big red shopping bags he was carrying.
Chicago, just in the area we are in which I haven't toured in great lengths, has some of the most beautiful churches. This one is in between modern day office buildings many stories high.
Here you can see more detail on the church. I'm not sure what religious affiliation it is. I'll try to find out tomorrow and also will try to get pictures of other gorgeous churches here.
The tower of the church is amazingly high. At the very top there are actually windows. I know it's a church, but when I first saw it all I could think of was "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair." I know, kind of dumb. But, hey, you know me.

"And that's the way it is". Good night.
