Is Our Baby Really 36?

Tick tock goes the clock. Time keeps moving on. We can't stop it. We can only do our best to enjoy every moment. Life isn't easy at times as the ups and downs keep us on a never ending roller coaster. We love the peaks, and the valleys can keep us down; or we can do everything we can to try to lighten our load and enjoy life.

Thirty seven years ago we moved to Okinawa, Japan. Life was simple, and I think it was that way because we had very little; and the things that brought us joy were letters from home, pictures from home, and knowing that our family loved us.

Our lives became so purposeful and so full of a loving duty on November 22, 1973. There is no way to explain the immediate love you feel when your precious baby is put in your arms to hold, to cuddle, and to love.

We have always teased Chad that he has "Made in Japan" stamped on his rear; and we have even called him our little Japanese import. And through the past 36 years, our love has grown stronger. When you feel that immediate love for your child, you think it could never grow stronger. But, as each day passes, the love for your child grows stronger and stronger; and there is a love there that cannot be explained.

So, Happy Birthday Chad; and thank you for 36 wonderful years. OK, so maybe there were a few moments when wonderful wasn't the exact word to describe some of our days; but that is how we grow as parents, learn to understand each other and feel our love grow deeper.

Chad is a die hard Houston Texans fan so Maren
felt that this cake was the right one for him.
Kyle took a great photo of Emma and Hayes
and turned it into a great birthday present
(Can you tell these boys are brothers?!)
Doesn't every Texans fan need a bobble head
doll? Hey, I have a Dallas Cowboys' Mr.
Potato Head so bobble head dolls are fine.
Ooh, a big present!!!
I was trying to get a picture of Chad with Emma
and Hayes. But, Marshall and Kyle have this idea
that they have to be in every picture. This was
Marshall's pose.
And here we have Kyle's pose.
Finally the pose I waited for.
Thank you Chad for being a great son, a great brother, and a great dad.
